After four weeks of theory and classroom activities, we’ll finally be entering the world of the classroom this coming week! Time to put this theory into practice and find out what it’s like in a real world setting. We’ve all been told of our sponsor schools and I’m lucky enough to be heading back to my old stomping grounds! I can’t wait to discover how the school has changed, catch up with some of my original inspirations in the teaching world and see what it’s like to be on the ‘other side’.
Coming up this Wednesday, I’ll be meeting with the principal of my sponsor school – how
scary exciting! I can’t believe I’m here, it feels like this is a dream that has been years in the making. I can’t imagine how it’s going to feel to walk into the school where I grew up as a small child, and now as an official part of the teaching staff. As a group of ‘pre-service’ teachers, we were offered much advice on matters from how to act, how to dress, and what kind of questions we can expect from our principal; unfortunately none of that did any good to calm my nerves! Luckily, there is another student teacher with me at the same school, so we will be experiencing all of this together.
I can’t wait to come back and talk about my first experience in my school – I hope I get to meet my sponsor teacher!
